A rare event is taking place in the skies on June 8th, the perfect alignment of the Sun, Earth and Venus in the sign, Gemini. Venus will pass between the Earth and Sun, like an eclipse. This Venus retrograde period with its passage in front of the Sun on June 8th (called the Venus transit) is a significant date in the Mayan calendar. Every 130 years a Venus transit takes place and happens in pairs, eight years apart, so that the second Venus transit date is 2012. This is the Mayan date that initiates the closing of the Great Cycle that has lasted 5125 years. Carl Johan Calleman, who has done extensive study of the Mayan calendar, says that the Mayan calendar is not indicating the end of a cycle but rather that in 2012 the enlightenment of humanity will take place. The Venus transit of June brings about preparation for the transformation of 2012, when attunement to global oneness and realization of our true nature can permeate our earth. With this powerful transformation, the deepest darkness of the collective mindset that defines through separation, polarization, war and dominance is washed to the surface, exposed and seen in relation to a higher context of wholeness.
We can look at and experience the next eight years as a global initiation into deeper levels of feeling and valuing the world we live in. The ancients knew that the planet, Venus, acted as a doorway for humankind to return to our spiritual origins and align with the powers of the universe, awakening to our true selves, humanity as the self reflecting mind of the living intelligent earth in the living solar system. This lineup heralds the time for the return of the feminine and soul into humanity. It marks the beginning of an eight year initiation period, a reversal of the masculine feminine dynamic. It is the return to spirit, as we labor to climb out of our entrenchment in materialism and separatism where domination controls polarized ways of being.
As Venus transits the face of the Sun it acts as a tuning resonance that amplifies frequencies beaming to the earth, aligning us with our higher or galactic natures or origins. Might the ancients have hinted at this by using the symbol for the sun in astrology as a circle with a small black orb in the center?
From an astrological point of view this event takes place when the Sun and Venus are in Gemini and the Earth in Sagittarius. In esoteric astrology, it is said that Venus rules Gemini and the Earth rules Sagittarius. It is also said that, “The cosmic line of force from Gemini to Sagittarius and the reverse, is subjectively and esoterically related to our earth. Thus guaranteeing its soul development, the unfolding of form as the expression of that soul.” The understanding that astronomically this perfect alignment of Venus with the Sun and Earth takes place on this Gemini/Sagittarius axis gives us something to ponder. The esoteric rulership of Venus in Gemini and the Earth in Sagittarius, takes on new meaning, as that is exactly their position in the zodiac at the time of this event. This is an indication that the influence of Venus to the Earth reaches its maximum intensity when it aligns in this transit of the Sun, every 130 years. A merging of the scientific and the symbolic take place, the science of conditioning energies and forces through space upon our planet earth and humanity and the poetic meaning of Venus’s rulership in Gemini. Venus is the planetary power that harmonizes the dualities of Gemini. It is Venus’s job to synthesize duality into greater wholes and new creative expressions. This is the job of the feminine and the soul, to reflect spirit through matter, to synthesize masculine and feminine, the intellect and the imagination, the right and left halves of the brain, the old and the new, into synergies of new creative expression.

Thus we have a planetary marker, our stellar poetry, for the acceleration of the paradigm shift, the movement into one humanity, collaborative sharing of power rather than power over, the movement into the Aquarian age whose quality expresses itself through concrete knowledge about the true nature of who we are rather than the blind faith and devotion of the Piscean age. It marks the time for people to awaken, to ask the questions, to seek wisdom, a time when humanity claims its power and creativity.
Ancient wisdom teaches us that the foundation of our solar system exists on the vibration of light, love and wisdom. This primary ground of being is consciousness whose quality we experience as love. When we are able to align with this consciousness, we interface with the divine mind and knowledge is available to us, the third eye opens, we are guided to the answers of our questions. As Venus aligns with the Sun it receives, amplifies and transmits to Earth this energy of love, wisdom, through the vibration of the mind, translating itself as the quest to know the truth, to peel back the veils of partial knowledge and align with a greater inclusive wholeness of who we are as cosmic beings. Venus amplifies the qualities of the Aquarian age because on a higher level of consciousness they exist on the same vibration. Through our quest for knowledge we align with beauty, which is the nature of the structure of the universe. This structure is beautiful in its interlocking mysteries of being and sustaining life, through light and space. With the Venus transit we have an indicator of the timeliness for the shifting of the paradigm into new consciousness.
On May 17th Venus goes retrograde at 26 Gemini and begins to sink below the western horizon. It is time to gather into ourselves and review what is of value to us, the quality of our relationships and our daily lives, to touch into our deepest selves.
On June 2nd Venus disappears from the night sky and descends into the darkness. She is absent from our view. She then will return renewed as morning star on June 15th. This planetary dance has informed human consciousness with mythology of death, rebirth, of sacred marriage enactments. Yet this Venus retrograde period is one of those rare times that we will be able to see and record this merging with the great heart of our solar system, the Sun. In Asia and Europe, scientists, astrologers and others will be able to view Venus as a black orb traversing across the face of the Sun. The last time this happened was in 1882, yet this is the first time it will happen as we move into the Aquarian age.
The meaning of this transit continues to be incredibly profound as Venus opposes the planet Pluto in Sagittarius, 3 times, during its retrograde cycle bringing forward the themes of Pluto, reversals of perspective through exposing what is hidden, intensifying whatever is going on, tearing down the old structures, often through physical and symbolic death, destruction, leading to transformation and rebirth.
The Venus transit interfaces with the destiny of the United States. The United States is involved in at least two major planetary transits. Pluto is opposing the U.S. Mars, which means that since April 2004, war, death and destruction has intensified. The purpose of this, from the point of the stars, is to initiate a transformation of our use of force and domination, a transformation of how we, as a country, use force. Venus will align with these planets three times during the months April, May, June and July. We can say that Venus in Gemini brings images to journalism to make us feel and awaken, to discuss the values we are holding which allow these actions to take place. Venus will also be aligning with the United States “axis of consciousness”, challenging us to collectively feel and deepen our understanding of our relationships world wide and planetary. With Saturn on the U.S. Sun, there are obstacles to blindly moving forward, because it is the time to face the consequences of our actions. When Venus rises as morning star on June 15th, the intensity of this review can lead to persons in power stepping down due to collective pressure or other events.
What can we do now?
As the alignment of Venus magnifies and focuses the healing rays of the Sun to the Earth, as we open ourselves at this time, we can receive more light and love into our lives, families and communities. On June 6 and/or 7 gather in groups to feel the energy, attune to earth and sky and meditate. Taking the time to sit, feel and receive this pulsation of frequency, we become more intuitive, energized and experience love as the transforming alignment of our earth, the solar system and ourselves. As we watch the worldwide situation of karmic unfoldment, as we take actions based on our convictions, that which anchors this transformation is the receiving and opening of our hearts, following our inner direction. We are witnessing a dramatic story of polarity and transformation in the United States since 9/11. What has been out of balance because of our identification with materialism, separativeness and being caught in our histories, is now enduring radical transformation. The heavens are flooding us with the power of the lights and heightened frequencies so our true identities can be known and the return to spirit and unity consciousness can take place.

“This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
“Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above water.
“And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we take nothing personally. Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
“The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
“Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we must do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
“We are the ones we have been waiting for.”
