As we move into the time of Taurus, all those insights and inspirations of the Aries time need grounding. Taurus is about manifesting yet on the esoteric levels it’s about detaching. In order for us to ground and stabilize new ways of being, projects and concepts, we must also attend to clearing and releasing the old, recycling, creating the space for the new.
The new moon takes place on May 8th. It supports structuring, focusing and deliberate creation. With the influence of Neptune there is a challenge of being pulled off course by others or by a resistance to focusing in. During the month there is tremendous creative energy present with the possibility of high levels of cooperation. This can play out individually, nationally and internationally. Yet along with this positive energy is also the challenge of communication, especially to those prone to defensiveness and issues with authorities.
By tracking the planets we can see the collective lesson ahead of us. In the moment of interaction can we listen deeply, not only to what is being said, but also to our rising reactions? Can we be so present in the moment to understand the root of those reactions, the underlying issue/s we are struggling with? This is how Saturn challenges Mercury. On May 15th Mars and Uranus come together in Pisces. This is lightening quick energy, yet it is moving through the water element. The unexpected will arise and topple situations that aren’t able to support themselves. High levels of energy are coming in.
The Sun moves into Gemini on May 20th, just as a very strong diplomatic, creative and compassionate energy surrounds us. With a Gemini Sun it is time to move, lighten up, communicate, and work with polarities to find new areas of harmony. The full Moon in Sagittarius takes place on May 23rd. The challenges of the previous month may now be integrated in a way that works smoothly.
The last week of May, Venus squares Mars and opposes Pluto, so be careful in relating. Issues of competition, dominance, and even very old issues, may resurface. This is perfectly appropriate as the powers of transformation are focused on relationship. The key is to catch yourself in it and with compassion and clarity see the bigger picture of the karma being played out.

The month begins with communications that are challenging. Remember to take your time. Unexpected situations arise. If you can be flexible in the moment you can see things in new ways that lead to inventive solutions. You feel yourself being freed up because of establishing a new kind of order and structure in your life.
Taurus (Apr 20-May 20) This is your month to attune to yourself. The first part of the month you feel the fullness of life in its richness, in relationship, nature and creativity. As the month moves on social interactions have a surprising quality, as if a trickster is setting up situations to test your patience and compassion.
Gemini (May 21-Jun 20) Take some quiet time for yourself before your birthday. Let yourself say no to people. With Mercury squaring Saturn, be thoughtful in your communications, There is a reward for you this month, a feeling of achievement that leads to the opening of new avenues. Trust yourself.
Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 21) This month you feel enjoyment in gathering and with friends. Be aware that there is a strong Neptune influence on May 8. You may find yourself caught up in someone else’s situation. You feel a great need to daydream and put down your responsibilities. Spiritual and artistic endeavors are supported.
Leo (Jul 22- Aug 22) You feel more direction and purpose this month. This is the time to follow through on that idea or intuition you had. Use the New Moon time to envision your idea. The following weeks in May can be extremely enjoyable. It looks as if you can move into a new state of being. Something has ended and something new is beginning.
Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22) This month highlights expansion of consciousness and understanding for you. Be thoughtful about communications in the first part of the month especially in groups and with friends. There is a great need to communicate, but it may not be received in the way you intended. You are in the midst of transformation and release.
Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22) This is a transition month for you, so let go of something. Poetry wants to be written, your heart wants to express itself. Mid May brings a sense of freedom and opening into more imaginative and philosophic places. Be thoughtful about relationships and encounters at work. The unexpected will show up.
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21) Unexpected encounters in love, a new romance or artistic inspirations define May for you. Remember the Neptunian influence in the first part of the month, illusion or a reversed perspective on life shows itself. Very high energy is trying to come through you, so be grounded!
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20) The beginning of the month highlights your working environment. Here is where to focus your energy. As the sun enters Gemini the time is right for successful and creative interactions with others. Teaching, speaking, inspiring others is very favorable. Keep yourself attentive to home and family needs also.
Capricorn (Dec 21- Jan 19) Take your time with communications. This period of the last two months with Mercury in Aries may have made it more difficult for you to be patient with others. May can be a very creative and productive month for you. Now is the time to move things, change things. Later in the month you have great energy and ability to focus.
Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 17) Cool Aquarius may feel yourself getting fired up as Mars gets closer to your ruling planet Uranus. With Chiron now in Aquarius you may feel that your calling has arrived. You may have more of a sense of your purpose and how you can contribute to the community. Relationship issues call your attention midmonth. Can you clearly communicate what you are feeling?
Pisces (Feb 18-Mar 19) You are coming into a very energetic time. You have been changing over the last year and now your actions really demonstration those changes. People see you in new ways. This month can be a very lovely time for you, very creative and productive. Your heart is full of appreciation and love.
