Astrology for June by Susan Heinz, Astrologer

With the Sun in Gemini we feel the scattering influence of the sign of multitasking. Yet with the shifting of nodes into Taurus and Scorpio, unfinished business of the past has resurfaced. If it’s a personal issue that calls for your attention, heed it. If it is a relationship issue take time to reflect on the many different perspectives in play. The full moon in Sagittarius, June 14, aligns with transformative Pluto.

The main event this month is the movement of Saturn into Cancer. The last time Saturn entered Cancer was in 1973. Saturn attunes us to right alignment on all planes of existence, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It’s reputation as the harsh teacher is because we learn the Saturnian lessons through experience. Saturn challenges us with truth and correct action. It is the organizing principal inherent in our subconscious. To consciously work with Saturn, means to feel what organizes our mental perceptions, and our emotional reactions. As Saturn moves into Cancer we are given the opportunity to review our inner foundations of being. Cancer is the watery substance that houses our ancestry, our unconscious conditioning, and the roots of our being. As Saturn passes through this sign it tests our level of awareness, our self-honesty, our convictions. It reveals through obstacles and depressions where there are blocks and obstacles to growth. (Take note that Cancer rules the housing market). It will hold us to dealing with the very foundations of who we are.

Uranus has also just entered watery Pisces, forming a powerful connection with Saturn. This marks a year of time ripe for unexpected developments, break down of forms to allow new visions, and inventive changes to transform the structures present in our society, culture and government. The last time that Uranus in Pisces aligned with Saturn in Cancer was in 1504! This was the time of the Copernicus revolution and beginning of the Renaissance.

Mars enters Pisces on June 19th and stays in Pisces until mid-December. Mars will give energy to the Uranus Saturn trine throughout the rest of the year. This is a sensitive time when we will be asked to feel our deep selves, to clear blocks and fears, and to feel as one humanity, to feel what we do to each other. The new moon in Cancer, on June 29th, emphasizes this sensitive time.

This is especially so for the USA and President Bush because both are ruled by the sign Cancer. It is time for us to examine what our foundation has become and to reach back to understand our original foundation. As Saturn tests our country and President Bush, what crisis will force a confrontation with the roots of past actions or awaken the sleeping masses? It is not the fear of loss of security at the root of the problem. It is the fear of truly feeling our lives and the lives of others across the world. It is that compassion that will raise us up to the next level of evolution meant in the time of Aquarius. It is the asking of questions of what is the truth at this time and holding witness to what unfolds that will begin the great awakening.

The sun moves into Cancer on the summer solstice, June 21st.

(Apr 20-May 20): This is the time to work with the power of your mind and how it affects your physical body. Find a place to completely rest and let go. A new mental attitude wants to emerge. Your creative voice will help center your life. Be thoughtful with siblings.

Gemini (May 21-Jun 20): As Saturn moves into Cancer, you review your resources. Now is the time to make changes to what you do. You are in a time of establishing a new sense of balance in your life. Be practical not fearful.

Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 21): Transition continues for you. You are aware of a deeper sense of responsibility to your self. Though others may see you as the most responsible right now the more important issue is that you stay true to what inspires you.

Leo (Jul 22- Aug 22): Unexpected situations propel you into spiritual and philosophic contemplation. You need quality private time to ponder and sort what comes up for you. This is a time of disengagement from the expectations of others.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22): Ideas solidify around your goals. Reexamine your friendships and interactions with the public. Events will show you if you are compromising your values. Do radically different things with your partner.

Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22): There is a new call to adventure for you. You may feel it as conflict between the old and the new. Stretch to let your heart express what is possible for you. Now’s the time to shift your daily life and answer a new call.

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21): It is the year to take up new study. Focus on what will expand you into new areas. Let yourself not know the answers and live from moment to moment in appreciation.

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20): You are taking more responsibility for feelings in relationship. Though you would like things to evolve according to your understanding of how things could be, now’s the time to let go of convincing anyone. Listen, share love and speak with compassion.

Capricorn (Dec 21- Jan 19): Strong lessons will come in through interactions with others. For some it will be about learning healthy boundaries in relationship, for others it will be feeling the challenges in other’s lives and pondering our responsibilities. Practice observing and patience.

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 17): You feel more disciplined now to accomplish tasks and work toward goals. With Saturn in Cancer it is time to examine habits and routines that no longer serve you. Alignment in body, mind and emotion is the work to be done.

Pisces (Feb 18-Mar 19): With this Saturn transit you will take on the responsibility of being a creative person. You will become aware of how you limit your possibilities and your choices about how you want to express yourself. Strong lessons will come through children and lovers.
