As we moves into the heart of summer, fiery Leo reigns, late summer brings us into the cooling and refining energies of Virgo. Mars, now in Taurus, adds momentum and energy to the earth signs, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. With Mars in Taurus its risk taking, aggressive qualities are calmed, a persevering, focusing energy takes it’s place. Mars in Taurus can stimulate the questioning of our values, direction and money issues. With Venus in Virgo during the first part of August, there is a practical, get things done, creative energy.
We start August with Mars squaring Saturn, causing delay and stalling our efforts. An excellent time to take things slowly, simplify. In the world situation, we have experienced much aggression and violent energy as Mars traveled through Aries. With Mars aggression being slowed by the constricting force of Saturn, it is interesting to see different Moslem groups make public statements against terrorist activities and government officials talk of bringing troops.
With Mercury retrograde in Leo until the August 15th, there is the need to revision the creative focus in our lives. This period can break up our usual patterns of expectation, leaving us unmotivated as a shift in gears is taking place, so we respond to life with renewed creative and spontaneous energy that enhances our choices.
The New Moon takes place on August 6 in Leo, the sign of individual expression, dramatic presentation and strong leadership. This new moon, setting the tone for the month’s activity, carries a Neptune influence. Confusion, uncertainty, even deception may color leadership and individual actions. Therefore it is not wise to begin large projects. The power of Neptune, as ruler of the waters and seas, is to dissolve established forms, and blur the boundaries that keep us separate. Neptune’s force can dissolve self-centered egos and leadership so a more inclusive view of each situation may be seen.
Twice times this month Mercury will square Mars and challenge smooth communications, on August 13 and 25th. This gives heat to communication and points of view clash. Interestingly this takes place exactly on President Bush’s own Leo Mercury, challenging his point of view and his ability to stay calm. He is entering a very unstable time in his Presidency, challenged by crisis. He will seek to use his humor and smooth talk to subdue conflict and negative opinions.
On August 17 Jupiter aligns with Neptune stimulating compassion, humanitarian ideal, an excellent aspect for artists and people who work with imagination and dreams.
The Full Moon takes place on August 19, highlighting enjoyment with friends and family. On the 22, the Sun moves into earthy Virgo, and we begin the transition to fall. With the influence of Uranus, change and innovation is called for.
The last week of August bring beautiful Venus and Jupiter in Libra together in the evening skies, coming to their closest alignment on September 1. This combination brings peace, good fortune in relationship and positive financial indications. May it shine world-wide.

Aries (Mar 20-Apr 19): Your usual ‘get it done’ attitude must shift to a more patient approach. Motivation may drop and rest is important. Challenges with children and creative projects ask for thoughtful consideration before action. Your values, desires and impulses are being tested for their appropriateness. Mid month communication is stressed.
Taurus (Apr 20-May 20): You feel desire to move, change, accomplish. Your energy picks up while you experience a pull to go within, to root out anything that is not attuned to your essence. You look through your past and clear things out. Physically clean and organize your home and office. Moving thoughtfully, harnessing skills, you lay foundation for increase in material well-being.
Gemini (May 21-Jun 20): You are seeding a new cycle. Slow activity and move into the inner worlds. New creativity, inspiration is being seeded in quiet times. Give yourself chunks of time to wander, putter, imagine, then get back to structure. You may feel that you have lost something but it is right to move on. A sibling needs you to listen
Cancer (Jun 21-Jul 21): This month you are bringing new routines, focus into your everyday life. You feel both a creative, loving flow and also a sense of constriction or limitation. We shall call it focus. Staying with this focus will ultimately bring success to you. Let yourself see the negativity and fears you carry and lay them down, taking action as needed.
Leo (Jul 22-Aug22): Saturn now moves into your sign. It cuts away ignorance so truth can be seen. It is the inner correcting guide. You may feel that more responsibility has come into your life. At the beginning of the month this seems frustrating, but the potential is there for you to align with your strength in a steady and persevering way, as if you are an artisan, building. Through this time let compassion, love, and sensitivity to yourself and others be your guide.
Virgo (Aug 23-Sep22): Watch Venus (now in Virgo) set in the evening on the 3rd, in preparation for the New Moon on the morning of the 4th. This is an important time to seed new beginnings and review your situation, with Mercury retrograde aligning with the new moon. Patience is needed during this time. Allow yourself to experience a bigger picture of your life and relationship. Your inner strength and courage move you to the next level.
Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22): Retreat while you are envision new goals. This month you receive money and a sense of freedom and enjoyment. As Venus and Jupiter align in Libra take time to sit with these benefic planets in the evening. Experience their blessings of peace. You are experiencing rapid growth.
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21): This month the focus is on your life path. For some it is career, for some the feeling of purpose, for some it is focus and direction. You find yourself balancing between tending to others and a growing and developing purpose for yourself. Misunderstanding may crop up. Someone you love has an opposing view.
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20): This month you seek greater meaning for yourself. Your day to day routine is being challenged, limited or changed. You have what it takes to reach out to others with imagination and creativity to draw opportunities to yourself. People respond well to you. Free yourself of unnecessary burdens.
Capricorn (Dec 21-Jan 19): This month you share intimacy with others. You also share the limelight, honoring both yourself and others for their accomplishment. A new love affair begins, with a person or project or animal. Happiness comes with a sense of openness. Money comes into your life or money situations are transformed.
Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 17): Relationships are very important this month. There is a sense of taking up more responsibility and follow through in relationship. Though you value your freedom, there is a marked change in your communication and thoughts of partnership. Now is the time to be realistic, instead of idealizing a future.
