With October we experience the full thrust of Libra energy, relationship orientated, and diplomatic. It is interesting that this sign of cause and effect, adjustment of karma, is also the sign of relationship. Relationship is a karmic mirror to ourselves. Libra is also the sign of friends and enemies. Since the equinox we may have exerted more efforts toward diplomacy, yet we may also be at the height of polarization in relationship, (especially with Jupiter now in Libra enlarging all these issues) whether it’s between Democrats and Republicans, terrorists and U.S., or in our personal relationships.
Something to notice about President Bush with his Moon, Jupiter in Libra, is his drive for success through being a likable personality. It is this aspect of his character that hooks Americans, freeing them from thinking too deeply about the truth of the world situation. Americans are also attracted to his Mercury with Pluto in Leo that attaches to an idea and holds it indefinitely without being open to other points of view. This has been taken by the majority of American voters to mean strength in leadership. This face of leadership seems protective to Americans because it gives the people the opportunity not to have to think about the bigger picture. Yet at higher levels Libra is sustained by its awareness of the interconnectedness of all of life and by it’s intuition of cosmic unity.
In the United States chart there is a description of deceptive action, denial around actions and being bound up with appearances and glamour rather than truth. This election is about whether American people will be willing to step into the truth or stay in denial. Astrologically, the election looks like it could go either for Bush or Kerry but if Americans adhere to denial, President Bush will definitely be elected. Yet, October is not an easy month for Bush. He will have to face consequences of past karma.
The month is highlighted by a solar eclipse on Oct 13, and lunar eclipse on Oct 27th, at 8:07 pm. Eclipses are a powerful alignment of forces and illuminate areas that obstruct that alignment. We may witness its effects through a forcefulness around the taking of power. On October 22, the Sun moves in watery, intense Scorpio and by the end of October we feel the need to reflect on our actions rather than rapidly moving ahead or reacting. Venus moves into Libra to join Jupiter on the 28th.
The Twelve Opportunities:
Aries (Mar 20-Apr 19): You are walking into a time of delicate negotiations with others. Watch communications as there are obstacles to easy flow. Take time to imagine what your actions could be before rushing in. Walk the middle path. Attune to your intuition for answers.
Taurus (Apr 20-May 20): You are experiencing a meticulousness of action. You are in a very productive time and this is presenting the possibility of change and transformation in your life. The Lunar Eclipse gives you the opportunity to clear out old relationship patterns.
Gemini (May 21-Jun 20): Grab hold of this creative, imaginative time. Feelings of gratitude will give you more energy and present opportunities. Midmonth you experience an authority challenging you. Quietly go within before responding. Explore from a deeper place your own truth. The Eclipse brings up an old issue. Let it go.
Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 21): Record your dreams. An old way of being, the judging self may come up strongly. Use it not to judge but to accurately access what you need or want to do to fulfill your goals. Attend to the feng shu in your home. This helps you to move forward in your life and leave negativity behind.
Leo (Jul 22- Aug 22): You are focusing on your skills to organize, getting down to practical matters, reviewing your financial situation. You have a lot of energy to get the job done. A new idea, a new plan emerges.
Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22): Focus on what is valuable to you and make choices based on that. This is a time to see where your talents are and to create priorities. Review your money situation. Be careful with negotiations. Don’t push forward. A breakthrough comes after the 17th, yet continue to carefully access the situation and keep balanced for success.
Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22): Jupiter goes into Libra. Feel more ease, more enjoyment, but watch your sweet tooth! You find yourself energized and confident. You are moving into a new phase, a transformation. Balance enthusiasm with quiet attentiveness. As you release old ways of being, a new perspective arises.
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21): October carries powerful energies for you. Your desire for intimate partnership increases. Though you are thrust toward group life there is also a need for more peace and solitude. The Solar Eclipse highlights relationship, your ideals for it and it’s reality. Navigate the middle ground. Your words and thoughts carry much power.
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20): The flavor of the next 12 months shifts from productive work to partnership, relatedness and finding balance in your life. Your work with groups becomes more successful and/or your enjoyment of friends increases. This month exposes something in relationship that needs to be released. You now have the opportunity to build new foundations in relationship, otherwise something will topple.
Capricorn (Dec 21- Jan 19): In October there is the need to slow down and go deeply into yourself as you also experience new opportunities in the world. Someone challenges or irritates you. You experience a feeling of limitation, being hemmed in by daily duties. You can shift this by simplifying and turning to a creative source.
Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 17): All emphasis is on learning, teaching, traveling, allowing yourself to feel into the greater cosmic truths and relating this to others. New understanding comes to you. Take risks to move deeper into who you are. A situation calls for courage.
Pisces (Feb 18-Mar 19): This month you work on relationship at the deepest level of shared values. The question is what does cooperation mean to each of you. However subtle or blatant, it is time to release feeling like a victim to someone else’s behavior. The solar eclipse highlights your belief systems. You have reached your initial goals and now it is time to conceive of the next set of goals.
