Astrology for January 2007 by Susan Heinz, Astrologer
As we move into 2007, the era of the Divine Feminine is returning, the honoring of wholeness and unity amidst the tatters of the old patriarch, staking its last claim to power through domination, covering itself in the flag of patriotism, national security, using words and images to manipulate. The rise of consciousness is taking place within the soul of humanity, a return of the feminine to balance the masculine, igniting another cycle of human evolution. The Mongolian shamans call it the “Era of Women”. As we are in the middle of the 8 year purification, each of us undergoes this transformation from old to new, flushing up patterns of reaction, patterns of judgment separating ourselves from each other, unresolved issues living in the subconscious lodged in our bodies. As we may move into a new center of consciousness, a realization that we are creators living in a field of intelligence and grace, the Green movement grows (the color of the heart chakra). “The inconvenient truth” is we are one with the earth. Nature holds the wisdom and answers to our dilemmas if we honor and listen to her. We are returning to the ancient wisdoms which the Aquarius age predicts, the convergence of ancient perception and modern science, past and future, masculine and feminine, intuitive perception and the rational mind. We are moving up the tree of life, back to the heart of being, balancing and tempering ourselves, awakening to the truth of who we are. This is the meaning of the predictions of this potent time that reach a peak 2012 through 2014. Many changes in government, economy, environment, global interrelations, science and medicine will take place.
2007 begins with four important themes. The first is Jupiter moving through Sagittarius, enlarging the topics of morals, ethics, international relationships, (as in talking to “our enemies), education, and all spiritual and religious matters. It has the energy to bring hope for a brighter future and broader perspectives on situations. It brings forth leaders who are true orators, and writing and publishing can flourish. For the United States with its Sagittarius rising we begin to move away from power behind the scenes, being embedded in old karma and leadership. The people call out for truth. Our reputation on a worldwide level can begin to improve.
Secondly, we continue to move through the challenging period of Saturn opposing Neptune. Often described as moving through despair, it truly is a time of confronting our illusions and projections through which we create our realities. We cut through lies, propaganda, deception. On a personal level, it is a time of confronting our addictions, our roles as victims, our apathy, any patterns of denial and avoidance. When we move into the radiance of this planetary frequency we become grounded in the truth of who we really are, spiritual beings in an earthly body. We persevere in our spiritual practices that honors being, rather than just accomplishing, that honors stillness, listening and feeling into the presence of the quality of our lives, that honors wholeness and unity rather than separateness and specialized parts.
Thirdly, we begin January with an intensity of war and aggression. It is clear that President Bush cannot yet back away from his determination to conquer and subdue Iraq. The new defense secretary, Robert Gates is another pea in the pod, a reflective mirror of Bush himself. Their astrology charts carry many similarities. This will be an extremely difficult year for both of them. By the end of the year they may have very conflicting opinions.
With Jupiter squaring Uranus throughout the year, crisis in consciousness is taking place, preparing for a new beginning in 2010. There will be restlessness, a lack of patience with the status quo, a realignment with a visionary perspective. The counter culture will rise and speak out. There will be independent actions of leaders who seek global unity and peace. Jupiter and Saturn align through the fire signs of Sagittarius and Leo. Liberals and conservatives find issues of common ground and change is put in place. Personally, take action on your vision, because it will root in solid ground. This year will find the government changing with an influx of new visions.
Mercury goes retrograde 3 times every year. This year it retrogrades in water signs sliding back into air. Review takes place in the emotional depths of our beings and relationships, our quality of life. Balance thinking and planning with stillness, contemplation and communication skills. Watch for this February to March, June to July and October.
Every two years Mars goes retrograde and every 18 months Venus retrogrades. In 2007 both will retrograde. Venus retrograde continues the theme of contemplating our relationships, bringing quality and value into our awareness and adds reviewing our relationship with money. Venus retrogrades in July. During this time we should look within rather than without in searching for ideals in relationship and refrain from making big purchases. Mars retrogrades at the end of the year, mid November through January. When Mars retrogrades review of our action, desires, aggressions and military must take place. With the retrograde we feel the impulses that drive us, often by coming up against someone or thing. We can consciously move with this energy by finding time to retreat and reflect on the year and our deep desires. For the United States it is a very important retrograde (it’s effect beginning in September) as it begins on the U.S. Sun in Cancer, aligning with Jupiter, Venus and turning direct on the U.S. Mars, planet of war. The U.S must take a look at what we project, how we want to spend our money and our relationships with the rest of the world. This sets a profound stage for the next candidates for the presidency. We end the year with Jupiter conjuncting Pluto before they both enter Capricorn. This is the sign of the government, of putting into practical place our ideals and visions, of perseverance to our end goals. It marks a very powerful time of change, breaking down the old paradigm.
